Call of Duty WW 2 was released on November 3, 2017. Yep, it’s been 5 years ago, by the way. It’s the fourteenth installment in the CoD franchise, developed by Sledgehammer Games. Though it’s been a long time since its first time airing, this game never loses its fans.
In case you want to know how great this game is, we have already covered everything about CoD WW2, including the gameplay, system requirements, and more. Without further ado, let’s jump right in!
Call of Duty World War 2 Gameplay
This game is set during World War II and tells the story about an unbreakable brotherhood of common men struggling to pursue freedom in a world on the brink of tyranny. You’ll be playing the role of Ronald “Red” Daniels, a soldier who took part in the 1st Infantry Division to fight against the Nazi forces in mainland Europe.
In this game, you won’t be fighting alone. Instead, other division members will help you to complete missions. They are Frank Aiello, Drew Stiles, William Pierson, Joseph Turner, and Robert Zussman. Each of them has unique ability that will be useful for the adventure later.
Robert Zussman as the protagonist’s best friend is going to take care of your health pack supplies while Drew Stiles will ensure you have enough grenade ready. As for William Pierson, you’ll be needing him to spot outlines of nearby enemies during the war, due to his eagle-eye. This is actually a great teamwork to get rid of enemies.
Anyway, speaking of health pack supplies, Call of Duty World War 2 offers no health regenerating. That means, you’ll need to rely on medical packs that are scattered all around the battlefield, or ask the medic to take part in your squad to throw you one. Sure, this concept could bring players dying often.
According to Michael Condrey, the former chief operating and development officer of Sledgehammer Games, this mechanism was created to deliver spirit of what it was like to be a common soldier in world war 2. Despite taking some time for players to get used to, but this is sort of a good idea.
Additionally, during the game, some Heroic Actions such as combat and medical save, and enemy surrender are claimed as epic accomplishments. This action can actually unlock a Squad Ability that will later help you to complete every mission.
One more thing that will await you within the game is the existence of Nazi zombies. It will make your war even creepier!

Call of Duty World War 2 Review
When it comes to the rating, this game actually got a pretty good score from their players. It got an 8/10 score approximately. Well, this game is basically great, just like the predecessors, from the storyline, gameplay, and more stuff. Everything is fairly cool although it still has flaws too.
The story has just as dramatic as the other Call of Duty games. It’s good but there’s nothing special about it. It’s just an ordinary Call of Duty but set in World War 2. That’s it. However, World War 2-themed could be something valuable for some people. A gamer tries to give her opinion regarding the story of CoD WW2.
It shows how well Call of Duty’s combat adjusts back into a historical setting for the first time since 2008’s World at War, and, more importantly, tells a good story with some fun action movie-style spectacle.Miranda Sanchez on IGN
On the contrary, other players think the storyline is soulless so it has failed to bring the essence of World War 2.
The campaign has no soul. Maybe it’s because it was developed by millennials who didn’t have grandfathers to relay the stories firsthand.Chippiez on GameSpot
In addition to the storyline, many players complained about the map. There are just 9 maps launched (exlclude the 4 DLC maps). Though some players thought that the new maps were quite exciting, but some thought that the maps didn’t get the players’ excitement when they popped up. It is strengthened by a player in the Gameranx channel.
“The map just feels really cramped and there really isn’t any room for tactical play. For example the USS Texas. It’s just only a hallway you’ve run until you die just to respawn and do it all over again.”
Despite having a lot of flaws, Call of Duty World War 2 is still a worth-playing game. It never loses its Call of Duty essence. But according to the complaints, this game could be much better than it’s expected. Anyway, have you tried this game? If you haven’t, giving it a shot will not hurt.
