Are you confused about why you’re seeing random posts on Instagram? Suddenly, unfamiliar accounts are appearing and you can’t see posts from people you follow. You didn’t ask for this!
These are Instagram’s Suggested Posts. But don’t worry, you can learn how to turn off suggested posts on Instagram. Not everyone wants their feed filled with random posts, especially if it means missing out on updates from the people they follow. Luckily, Instagram provides two methods to disable suggested posts.
What Are Suggested Posts On Instagram?
Depending on your Instagram activity, the platform now shows you suggestions based on what you’ve been interacting with. These suggestions are based on your activity, who you interact with and follow. And of course, the popularity of those accounts. However, not everyone wants to be a part of this algorithm.
Ways To Avoid Suggested Posts On Instagram
There are two easy ways on how to turn off suggested posts on Instagram;
Snooze For 30 Days
- When you find a suggested post in your feed, press the vertical three-dots icon at the top-right corner
- Choose “Not Interested” in the pop-up menu.
- Instagram will now hide the post and show you a prompt with an option to snooze seeing suggested posts for 30 days.
- Tap “Snooze all suggested posts in feed for 30 days” to hide recommended posts for a month!
And you’re free from suggested posts for a month!
Switch To Favorites/Feed
Though you can’t entirely disable suggestions on Instagram after 30 days, there is another workaround. Instagram introduced their Following or Favorite feed earlier this year. You can simply select the option to see content from only the people you follow.
This isn’t an ideal fix because you have to select the option each time you open Instagram. But till Instagram rolls out a better fix, this is the next best thing!
So there you have it! Hopefully with these two tips you won’t be seeing any suggested posts on Instagram! Check out our beginner guide on Reels if you’re new the platform. If you’re into streaming, check out how to post Twitch clips to Instagram!
