Not everyone wants their timeline cluttered with random posts. Especially at the cost of not seeing your followers’ posts. Thankfully, Instagram offers users two ways to turn off suggested posts.

What Are Suggested Posts On Instagram?

Depending on your Instagram activity, the platform now shows you suggestions based on what you’ve been interacting with. These suggestions are based on your activity, who you interact with and follow. And of course, the popularity of those accounts. However, not everyone wants to be a part of this algorithm.

Ways To Avoid Suggested Posts On Instagram

There are two easy ways on how to turn off suggested posts on Instagram;

Snooze For 30 Days

  • When you find a suggested post in your feed, press the vertical three-dots icon at the top-right corner
  • ChooseNot Interested in the pop-up menu.
  • Instagram will now hide the post and show you a prompt with an option to snooze seeing suggested posts for 30 days.
  • Tap “Snooze all suggested posts in feed for 30 days to hide recommended posts for a month!

And you’re free from suggested posts for a month!

Switch To Favorites/Feed

Though you can’t entirely disable suggestions on Instagram after 30 days, there is another workaround. Instagram introduced their Following or Favorite feed earlier this year. You can simply select the option to see content from only the people you follow.

This isn’t an ideal fix because you have to select the option each time you open Instagram. But till Instagram rolls out a better fix, this is the next best thing!
