If you are a regular TikTok user and a fan of the app, you may have already explored its latest feature, TikTok Now.
This exciting addition was launched in September 2022 and is now an integral part of the TikTok app, specifically for users in the United States. However, for users outside the US, we have also developed a standalone app for both Android and iOS devices.
In this article, we will delve into the details of TikTok Now, explaining what it is and how it works. So, let’s get started!
What is TikTok Now?
TikTok Now is a new feature of TikTok which allows users to take a picture or video at a random time in the day using front and back cameras. With this feature, you can show your friends or family what you’re up to at the moment.
What’s more interesting about this feature is that you won’t find any filters, effects, or editing tools to enhance your photo or video. So, you’ll literally show the ‘real thing’. Literally. However, it might not the best feature or app if you don’t really like to be over-exposed to social media.
Well, I personally think that this feature is kinda a bit risky to use, especially when you don’t really aware of what you should and you shouldn’t share on social media. Yes, oversharing could probably be the real threat here. But as long as you can control your desire to post, it will be a nice feature, though.
Apart from that, did you notice that this feature is pretty similar to another popular app, BeReal? Did TikTok Now clone BeReal? Well, according to how this feature works it’s 99% similar to BeReal. Just so you know, BeReal is a French app that provides the same service in which users can take a picture with their front and back cameras to share a glimpse of their activities.
Things that make these apps different are BeReal only lets you take a picture, meanwhile, TikTok Now allows you to take both photos and 10-second videos. Other than that, you have three minutes to post on this feature, while BeReal only gives you two minutes. An extra minute is enough to ensure your hair is nice, ain’t it?
TikTok Now Privacy
As previously stated, this feature could be a boomerang that threatens you if you can’t control your desire to post something. And TikTok seems to understand what its users are thinking. So, they’ve set a few privacy features to avoid something bad happening.
TikTok enables its 18-years old-or-over users to share their ‘Now’ posts to their Explore Feed. Meanwhile, 13-to15-years old users are limited to sharing their ‘Now’ post only with friends.
How to Use Now Feature or App
To use the this feature (which is within the TikTok app), you just need to click on the Now button (lightning icon) next to the ‘+’ button to see a daily photo and video experience. Then, you’ll receive a daily notification to capture a photo or a 10-second video to capture what you are doing.
As for the TikTok Now app, it’s actually pretty much the same as the feature built-in original TikTok app. However, you need to download or install the app first on your phone. At a random time, this feature will alert you with a “Time to Now” notification along with the lightning emoji.
Conclusion
So, that’s everything you need to know about the latest TikTok Now feature and app. It’s kinda hard to say that TikTok didn’t copycat BeReal. But hey, isn’t it a ‘normal’ thing for any platform to create similar features to others?
Just like YouTube Shorts that imitated TikTok’s short-form-portrait-styled videos. Finally, have you tried this feature?
