Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Update: What You Need to Know

Modern Warfare 3 is set to launch on November 10, featuring its signature multiplayer mode, the debut of Zombies, and a full-fledged campaign. In collaboration with Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games has put together an exciting Call of Duty experience for fans.

Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Plot

Continuing the storyline from 2022’s Modern Warfare 2, the campaign is a direct sequel. The plot revolves around the return of the infamous Call of Duty antagonist, Makarov.

While this version of Makarov differs from the original trilogy, his history with Price and Task Force 141 will be explored. Makarov and his private army orchestrate global false flag attacks, blaming Farah’s Urzikstan Liberation Front and Task Force 141. Players will take on roles in both Makarov’s forces and Task Force 141, grappling with the consequences of their actions while striving to prevent further chaos.

– Captain John Price

– Vladimir Makarov

– Farah Karim

– Colonel Shephard

– Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick

– John ‘Soap’ MacTavish

– Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley

– Kate Laswell

– Alex Keller (possible)

Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Locations & Gameplay

The campaign takes players to various locations, offering a mix of linear missions and semi-open world segments similar to MW2’s “Recon by Fire” mission. Confirmed locations include Verdansk, the Middle East, Siberia, St. Petersburg, and London. While players won’t have the entire Warzone map to explore, they will have the freedom to navigate specific areas and approach missions using their preferred strategies.

Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Missions

Two confirmed campaign missions are:

Operation 627

In this mission, players take on the role of Makarov’s forces, attempting to rescue him from Verdansk’s Prison. The mission pays homage to Modern Warfare 2’s “The Gulag” mission, featuring a nighttime submarine infiltration, stealthy takedowns using silenced weapons, and a riot inside the prison. The mission ends with an encounter at a well-protected closed cell, leaving players in suspense.

Hijack

Inspired by CoD 4’s “Hijacked” bonus mission, this mission continues from Modern Warfare 2’s post-credits scene. Players control a terrorist hijacking a Russian airliner, intending to frame Task Force 141 and Farah’s forces. The mission includes a unique mechanic where failure leads to time rewinding, providing players with another chance to succeed.

Conclusion

In summary, Modern Warfare 3 promises an exciting gaming experience with multiplayer, Zombies, and a captivating campaign. Makarov’s return sets the stage for intense gameplay, where players switch between forces, dealing with global chaos. Iconic characters and diverse locations add depth, with linear and semi-open world missions. “Operation 627” and “Hijack” offer thrilling scenarios. As the November 10 release approaches, fans can look forward to a gripping chapter in the Call of Duty series.
